When purchasing one of our ImpressiPrint STL frame or ornament files, one of the most important steps is selecting the correct Machine Option.
Not every magnet press produces the exact same finished magnet shape or dimensions. Even when two machines are advertised as making the same size magnet — such as a 2" × 2" magnet — the finished magnet can vary slightly depending on the press, mold, and consumables being used.
Those small differences matter when designing a frame.
Our STL files are designed around the actual finished magnet produced by the press, allowing the magnet to fit properly into the frame or ornament.
For that reason, please make sure you select the correct Machine Option before purchasing your STL file.
The Two Machine Options
You will generally see two machine categories when selecting your STL file:
Atlas / MPro / Titan
Choose the Atlas / MPro / Titan option if you are using one of the following compatible magnet presses:

These machines produce magnets with compatible dimensions and edge profiles for the STL files included under this option.
If you own one of these machines, this will generally be the correct selection for you.
Overseas
Choose the Overseas option if you are using:

An ImpressiPrint Magnet Press

Another similarly designed overseas-style magnet press

A press that closely resembles our ImpressiPrint machines and uses compatible molds and consumables
There are many versions of these presses available from different sellers and manufacturers, so they may not always carry the ImpressiPrint name.

Why Does the Machine Type Matter?
This is one of the most common things new magnet makers may not realize.
A magnet being called 2" × 2" does not necessarily mean every 2" × 2" magnet produced by every machine is identical.
Different magnet presses may create:

Slight variations in material thickness
A difference of only a small fraction of a millimeter can affect how a magnet fits inside a 3D-printed frame.
Our frames are designed with specific tolerances so your magnet can sit properly inside the designated tile area. Selecting the correct machine option helps ensure you are starting with the STL file designed around your press.
What If My Magnet Press Is Not Listed?
There are many magnet presses available today, and new machines continue to enter the market.
Some presses may produce magnets with more rounded corners, different edge profiles, or completely different finished dimensions than the machines our current STL files were designed around.
That does not mean you cannot use our frame designs.
At ImpressiPrint, we believe every magnet maker and every magnet press deserves compatible frame options.

We can determine whether one of our existing files will work or whether the design needs to be adapted specifically for your machine.
We Can Create a Version for Your Press
Because every ImpressiPrint frame and ornament is designed completely in-house, we have full control over the dimensions and construction of our STL files.
Our designs are not outsourced.
That allows us to modify existing designs to accommodate additional magnet presses and magnet styles when needed.
If your press produces a magnet that is not compatible with one of our current STL versions, we may be able to create a version specifically for your machine.
In some cases, we may ask you to provide sample finished magnets produced by your press.
This allows us to take accurate measurements from the actual finished product rather than relying only on advertised machine dimensions.
Using physical samples helps us evaluate:

From there, we can adjust the frame geometry and produce a much more accurate fit.
Why We Sometimes Request Sample Magnets
Magnet machine specifications do not always tell the entire story.
Two machines advertised as producing the same size magnet can sometimes produce noticeably different finished products.
For example, two different machines may both be advertised as producing a 2" × 2" magnet, but one could have slightly more rounded corners or a slightly larger finished edge.
When designing a 3D-printed frame, those differences are important.
Receiving a few finished sample magnets allows us to design around the magnet you are actually producing, helping us achieve the best possible fit.
New to Magnet Making? Here's the Simplest Way to Choose
If you are just getting started, don't let the different machine options overwhelm you.
Simply identify which magnet press you own.
If you have an Atlas, MPro, Titan, Tecre, or American Button Machine:
Select Atlas / MPro / Titan.
If you have an ImpressiPrint press or a similar overseas-style machine:
Select Overseas.
If you have another machine or aren't sure:
Contact us before purchasing and we will help you determine the correct option.
It is much easier to confirm compatibility before purchasing than to discover afterward that the file was designed around a different finished magnet profile.
Your Consumables Can Matter Too
Your magnet press is the biggest factor in determining compatibility, but the consumables being used can also affect the finished magnet.
Different:

can sometimes create small dimensional differences.
For the most accurate compatibility, we recommend using the same style of consumables consistently when producing magnets that will be used with your ImpressiPrint frames.
If you have changed consumable suppliers and notice that your magnets fit differently than before, feel free to contact us. We can help determine whether the issue is related to the frame, the press, or the finished magnet dimensions.
3D Printer Tolerances Can Also Affect Fit
It is also important to remember that every 3D printer is slightly different.
Printer calibration, filament, layer settings, flow rate, dimensional accuracy, and other slicer settings can create small variations in the finished print.
Our STL files are designed around carefully measured dimensions, but your individual printer setup can still influence the final fit.
For that reason, we always recommend printing one test frame first before beginning a large production run.
