In this example we are using the Bambu Studio slicer.
If you’re printing one of our STL files and want to add multiple colors to the design, Bambu Studio or many other great slicers such as Orca slicer makes the process very simple.
We recently uploaded a quick YouTube video showing exactly how we color fill one of our STL files using Bambu Studio.
For the demonstration, we used our Dog Paw Frame STL file, which was already imported into Bambu Studio. From there, we simply opened the Color Painting tools and used the Fill option to select the different areas of the dog paw design that we wanted to print in another color.
The Fill tool makes it easy to select individual sections of a model without having to manually paint every surface. Once an area is selected, you can assign the filament color you want to use and continue filling the remaining areas of the design.
For our Dog Paw Frame, we used this feature to add a contrasting color to the paw details so customers could easily see how a simple color change can completely transform the finished print.
A Simple Way to Customize Your Prints
Many of our frames and ornaments are designed with raised, recessed, or separated details that can easily be color filled inside your slicer.
Depending on the design, you can use different colors for:
-
Raised decorative details
-
Paw prints
-
Text
-
Borders
-
Seasonal accents
-
Engraved or recessed areas
-
Other separated design elements
This allows you to create many different looks from the same STL file without making any changes to the actual 3D model.
Watch Our Quick Tutorial
Our YouTube video walks through the process visually using the Dog Paw Frame as the example.
The video does not include audio, but the process is very easy to follow along with. You’ll be able to see how we select the Color Painting tool, choose the Fill option, select the areas we want to change, and assign a different filament color.
If you’re new to Bambu Studio or multi-color printing, this is a great place to start.
